PROJECT STRIFE
Character Development Relies On You!
The purpose of this whole project is firstly to see if a story can be thoroughly developed while including its audience in the most important part: it's development. It's common place for an author to create a fully fleshed-out story and produce it for an audience, but rarely do we ever get to see the creator's process or thoughts on the story as it happens! As a creator myself, I relish the feedback and critique of fellow peers and I love the interaction I get from my audience who help me remain motivated to continue a story as I work.
Project Strife is messy. It's unfinished, it's sloppy, and it has paint marks, stray ink stains, and fingerprint smudges all over its canvas. But that's alright! That's a whole part of the process. We artists are told so often that we need to show only a finished product to those outside of our world and make everything pristine, finished, and finite.Project Strife is my own middle finger to that idea, whether justified or arrogant, and is a way for me to include those who may not get a chance to ever see how the creative process works any other way. Does it take away some of the magic of the magician's act for many people? More than likely. But to some, it may just make the whole act evenbetter, as it lets them in “on the joke,” per se – and many people, deep down inside, always want to be in on the joke.
The second purpose of this project was to fill the desire for more personal expression. As an artist, I constantly hunger for more. Something to drive me, something to combine my talents and make it so I am completely fulfilled until my next step in life.Project Strife has allowed me to take a years+ worth of time and devote my entirety to it. It started out as my senior thesis, the crescendo of my artistic talent crafted through six grueling years of hard work at college. Now, it's grown into it's own statement, and has, through that, allowed me to grow not only as a person, but as an artist entirely into a more fulfilled, more solidified and professional individual.
